John Travolta Mistakes Drag Queen for Taylor Swift
Last night, the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, or VMA’s, were held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and it was watched by millions of music fans around the country.
Now social media and entertainment news is blowing up over John Travolta’s rather embarrassing snafu.
Taylor Swift snagged the trophy for her “You Need to Calm Down” video, which featured Jade Jolie, the drag queen impersonator and star of RuPaul’s Drag Race and other LGBTQ stars, many of whom Swift brought on stage to accept her win.
A brief moment that has since gone viral shows the actor hold the trophy out to Jade Jolie as if to offer it to her.
Jade, wearing a pink outfit and a blonde wig similar to Swift’s hairstyle, smiles and laughs as Travolta extends an arm and pats her on the shoulder.
Never A Dull Moment When John Travolta Presents An Award
It’s not Travolta’s first awards show blunder — at the 2014 Oscars while presenting the award for Best Original Song to “Frozen” star Idina Menzel for “Let It Go“, he infamously mispronounced her name as “Adele Dazeem”
He said, “Please welcome the wickedly talented, one and only, Adele Dazeem,” …very different from Idina Menzel.
And while he still hasn’t lived down that forgettable moment, he’s still invited to present awards.
In the 65 year old’s defense, Taylor and Jade looked stunningly similar.
